Lancôme Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One

On September 7th, Lancôme ambassadress and awarded actress Kate Winslet glowed on the red carpet as she attended the premiere of her new film “Labor Day” at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival rocking some Lancôme cosmetics. I wanted to try and re-create Kate’s look using some of the same products she used including Lancôme Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One in Gris Fatale, Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Coquette lipstick and Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre Powder Pencil for the Brows in Brunet (although Kate used Natural Blond).

Lancôme Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One in Gris Fatale comes in very sophisticated black packaging that has the signature silver Lancôme rose on the bottom right corner of the lid. It includes both a nude eye base and a dark liner that match the colour theme of the other 3 eyeshadows in the palette. Each palette has 5 eyeshadows for each step of the 5 steps to complete an eye look and two sponge tip applicators. Also included is a very handy illustrated instructional booklet with 2 different 5 step looks you can do for night and day; perfect for creating the classic smoky eye.

The top nude is the perfect eyeshadow base and has a creamy texture that glides on smoothly and acts as a primer when you apply it all over the lid; it lets the other colours in the eyeshadow pallet grab onto the lid and stay put throughout the day. The 3 eyeshadows, a silver, charcoal and taupe, are all pretty shimmery, almost a foil finish and quite sheer, than one might be used too, but when applied over the eyeshadow base, you can create great colour payoff for a wonderful smoky eye. They have a wonderful, smooth and creamy texture to them with little to no fallout considering the amount of shimmer. The lid shade is a soft silver shade with a lovely sheen; the crease shade is a beautiful charcoal colour with slight sparkle and the highlight shade a very glittery pale beigey/taupe shade. The bottom black acts as a liner and when applied with a damp brush it can really create a dramatic shade with just the right amount of silver shimmer and sparkle. Although I normally hate those silly sponge tipped liner applicators because they’re so thin, pointy and cheap, but the ones that come with this palette are actually pretty nice, and perfect for when on the go and you don’t want to bring all your brushes. You can achieve sultry and prominent eye looks with different combinations of the shades that can take you from day to night in only a few short and easy steps. It retails for $54 at Sephora and your local Lancôme counter.

Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Coquette lipstick comes in a sleek, black lacquered, elegant tube that features the iconic rose symbols in embossed gold on the lid, but the lipstick tub itself is gold and features a magnetic lid. Coquette is a beigey pink that creates a warm, natural shade of dusty rose on the lips with a nice satin finish to it. It has a soft, velvety, moisturizing texture to it thanks to its moisturizing boosting ingredient, Pro-Xylane. It provides full coverage that’s opaque and stays put with no bleeding or feathering for a good 3 to 4 hours. Thanks to its creamy texture it’s very comfortable to wear and is easy to apply. My lips stay moist, supple and hydrated while wearing it.

Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre Powder Pencil for the Brows in Brunet is an all-in-one pencil and brush to create beautiful, natural brows. At the one end is the powder pencil to help fill, define and shape the brow and at the other end is a brush to blend and groom the brow. It has a rich powdery formula to it that works with the pencil to create a softer finish and feel to the brow, it looks more natural, is more blendable and doesn’t create harsh lines this way, much the same as if using a eyeshadow on the brow. It’s firm enough to give full, opaque colour, but soft enough that it doesn’t drag or pull. There’s no dry-down time so it’s almost like a pressed powder eyeshadow in pencil form that stays put all day without fading or smudging. It retails for $28 at Sephora and your local Lancôme counter.
