Thierry Mugler Angel Muse Review

#HateToLove

I had to take a double glance at the new Thierry Mugler Angel Muse as it isn’t your typical Angel bottle. Although it does feature different types of metals, Muglers signature detail, it’s without the classic blue glass. This new design is done in a polished, sensual cosmic pebble with soft pink amber to help give it an even more futuristic shape. Its slender silhouette features sexy curves, a silver metal ring around the outside with a lovely rosy, nude glass in the middle, which is reportedly evokes the surface of Mars. Inside you’ll find a pure, subtle, perfectly balanced fragrance of grapefruit and pink peppercorn, mixed in with hazelnut, whipped cream and rose, followed by vetiver and patchouli. This new scent is shaking up the Angel galaxy as we know it, thanks to its luminous, slightly sweet, elegant, yet masculine aroma.

Thierry Mugler Angel Muse is the first gourmand vetiver for women that you will “hate to love”. My childhood self would love this and if I had to describe it, it would be a mix between praline, vanilla and red berry jam with a slight cotton candy, caramelized candy apple scent. It reminds me of strolling the Western Fair on a cool summer night, while playing carnival games in hopes to win a stuffed animal, eating junk food till I got sick and riding carnival rides with the loud base of TCL, Salt N Pepe and Ace of Base playing in the background. It’s soft and smooth, yet irresistible and totally reminds me of being a teenager in the 90’s.

Although Thierry Mugler Angel Muse does start off quite sugary, its woody masculine characters quickly take over, helping to balance out this creamy sweetness. It’s sensual, vibrant, elegant, and ultra-feminine and a scent you can easily get addictive too. If you’re not into bold, intense, statement scents, I’d stay away from this one, unless you learn you spray and walk into your perfume. This one is intoxicating and demands attention. It’s the perfect summertime scent that smells like candy, without being child-like. It’s fresh and juicy, creamy and sensual and rich and deep. All scents pair beautifully together creating a sophisticated scent without being as musky as the OG Angel. This is one fragrance that you’ll learn to hate to love, hence the Mugler’s #HatetoLove hashtag. It retails for $78 for 30ml and $102 for 50ml at your local Hudson’s Bay, Shoppers, Sephora and Nordstrom et Mural.
