Birchbox Better Together Review

Birchbox Better Together Review

September 2015

Box Happy October. Although we’re already into a new month, I wanted to share my September Birchbox with you; cause it’s just too pretty to pass up. The theme was “Better Together” and it celebrated us, the Birchbox subscribers. The inspiration for this box was designed around mood boards from some of their subscribers and also celebrated 5 years of Birchbox goodness. For those unfamiliar with Birchbox, first off, where have you been hehe – it’s a monthly subscription service that delivers 5 personalized beauty samples, tailored to your personal wants and needs, to your doorstep each month. For just $10 a month, plus $4.95 shipping you’ll be able to test out cult brands, new and up-coming lines and everything else in between before purchasing the full-size bottles. You can also earn points, which you can turn into full sized products just by sharing the love with friends and family and on social media.

First item in my box was a full size Japonesque Velvet Touch Eye Shadow in shade 02. Although not highly pigmented as it claims, its butter soft and smooth formula makes up for it. It also comes in the most adorable packaging, ever. It provides a sheer wash of colour with a slightly shimmery finish that isn’t over sparkly. I actually think this would work beautifully as a highlight shade for us pale gals. It retails for $9.

Next up, 100% Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream is an instant pick-me-up after late nights or early mornings. It helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. It helps to keep the skin nourished and hydrated and adds an overall brightness to the skin. I’m pretty excited for this one. Full size retails for $26, putting a value on this sample at $7.80.

Third item, BioRepublic Skincare Aloe Rescue Revitalizing Sheet Mask that’s packed full of aloe to help hydrate and refresh the skin after sun exposure. I love a good sheet mask and since this one is designed for use after time in the sun, I’m going to bring it with me on my trip to Jamaica at the end of this month. It retails for $14.50.

Fourth item, Davines This is a Sea Salt Spray that helps give beachy texture and mega volume without any stickiness. Again, something I’m going to bring with me on holidays. I love not having to fuss with my hair while on vacation. It retails for $30, putting a value on this sample at $10.80.

Last, but not least, Tocca Esfoliante Da Corpo Pink Tulip and Green Apple Nourishing Body Scrub. It features a sugar-based formula that also contains olive granules that helps to gently, yet thoroughly exfoliate the skin for a soft, smooth and supple effect. It’s like this box was designed for my holiday, but again, this will be coming with me, not only is it travel-size friendly, it will help sloth off all dead skin cells for a more even tan. It retails for $38, putting a value on this sample at $4.70.

Total box value was over $45, not only making it an excellent value for your money, but was the perfect box for anyone travelling down south in the next few months.

I had a similar box, but there were a few differences. I’m a bit sad that I didn’t get that beach spray! I can see why it won’t be coming with you to Jamaica, but still looks like a good product.
