Dove is for Real Women

Dove is for Real Women

Real Beauty

I’ve been a huge fan of Dove ever since they released their Real Beauty campaign back in 2004. I still get sad when I hear that only 2% of women actually describe themselves as beautiful. I love that Dove helps to empower women and helps them become more confident in their own skin. I also love that Dove uses “real” women, with real bodies and real curves in each one of their ads. We all know the negative effects of unrealistic and unattainable body images we see in magazines and online, and the negative impact it has on our self-esteem. We often forget that these photos are highly photoshopped and that the average girl doesn’t actually look like that. I know it may sound silly, but when I’m shopping for a Dove product, I like to think there’s a million girls from across the globe supporting me in whatever I do.
Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo (1)

Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo helps to gently cleanse the hair with a rich creamy lather. It’s infused with delicate African Macadamia Oil to leave hair sublimely silky, without feeling greasy or weighed down. The Pure Care Dry Oil Conditioner helps to keep hair nourished while moisturizing and detangling each strand. It deeply penetrates hair to help replenish lost or damaged lipids without feeling heavy or oily. It too is also formulated with delicate African Macadamia Oil, which goes hand in hand with the shampoo.

The Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo and Conditioner has completely changed my hair these past few weeks. For someone who colour treats her hair, it’s important for me to find a shampoo that doesn’t strip the colour or my natural shine. A lot of drugstore brands I’ve tried in the past leave my hair limp, dull and weighted down, but this Dove line actually adds a little life back into my dry strands. The shampoo is gentle enough to use daily, lathers well and cleanses the hair of any oil or product buildup. The conditioner has a thick and creamy texture without feeling too heavy on my thin hair. It helps to keep my hair moisturized, while taming and keeping my frizzes’ under control. My hair is incredibly shiny, smells amazing and has an all-around luxurious look and feel. It retails for $6.97 for 355ml each.

Dove Oxygen Moisture Souffle Treatment is formulated with Oxyfusion Technology to provide all day moisture to dry, dull hair. It features a lightweight oxygen-fused conditioning ingredient that helps to moisturize hair while adding 95% more body and fullness to the hair. Its deep penetrating moisturizing ingredients give an extra moisture boost without weighting the hair down.

I’ve been using Dove Oxygen Moisture Souffle Treatment once a week as a deep conditioning treatment. I apply a small dime size amount to my wet hair, focusing on the ends, wait a few minutes before rinsing. It instantly leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth without feeling too heavy or greasy. I’m not sure about it giving more body to my hair, but it does a wonderful job at keeping the fly-a-ways under control. I actually find that I don’t even need to flat iron my hair immediately afterwards and for the next few days after applying this soufflé. Because it keeps my hair from looking dry or crunchy and it tames my frizzes, it’s a pretty good weekly moisturizing treatment for my thin hair. It retails for $7.98 for 136ml.

Dove Go Fresh Revitalize Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture features a vibrant and juicy scent of mandarin and tiare flower. Its gentle formula helps to cleanse the skin and leave it feeling refresh and hydrated. It promises to leave your skin softer and smoother after just one shower.

Dove body washes have always been some of my favourites, not only because they smell amazing, but because they’re some of the most moisturizing shower gels on the market today. Dove Go Fresh Revitalize Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture goes above and beyond any other body wash I’ve tried from Dove. It’s almost like applying a moisturizer in the shower. Not only does its lightweight, rich and creamy texture lather extremely well, gentle cleanses the skin without stripping it of its natural oils, and it keeps it incredibly hydrated throughout the day. Even though it’s highly moisturizing, it washes clean away without a sticky, greasy or nasty residue left behind. I can get out of the shower and instantly get dressed, without having to apply a day cream. It gives an extra boost of hydration that keeps my skin moisturized throughout the day, but with a squeaky clean, soft and silky feel. It retails for $4.47 for 354ml.

Dove Beauty Finish Dry Spray Antiperspirant goes on instantly dry, with no visible residue to provide 48 hours of odour protection in an elegant, sophisticated scent of water lily, freesia and jasmine.

Dry antiperspirants are the only deodorants I can use now and the new Dove Beauty Finish Dry Spray Antiperspirant is quickly becoming a favourite. It’s almost like a body spray and deodorant in one, as it provides all day dryness, but with a floral freshness. It couldn’t be easier to use, simply shake and spray and watch as it completely dries once in contact with the skin. It doesn’t leave a sticky, wet or white residue, simply clear and dry. It keeps my underarms completely dry well into the evening, no matter how early I get dressed in the morning. It retails for $5.99.
