Highlight and Illuminate
Now that the summer months are upon us, we’re all looking for that perfectly sun-kissed, healthy, instant glow and L’Oreal has all your answers. The new L’Oreal True Match Lumi Collection is all about highlighting and illuminating the face this summer with two simple products. It features both a powder and liquid formula in three different tones, warm, neutral and cool, to work with your skin’s natural undertones to help enhance and harmonize your skin tone for a perfect complexion.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi in Golden is a part of the warm collection and will enhance yellow and peachy tones. If you look amazing in gold jewellery, this is the shade for you. The Ice shade is a part of the cool collection and will enhance pink and blue tones. If you look beautiful in silver jewellery, this is the shade for you. The Rose shade is part of the neutral collection and will enhance all skin tones, so whether you look good in silver or gold or just looking for a neutral shade to play around with, this is for you.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator is a dual primer that can be used for both highlighting and illuminating the face. It can be used all over the face as a primer or mixed in with your favourite foundation to add a healthy glow. It can also be used to highlight certain areas of the face, such as the high points, prior to foundation for a lit from within glow. Finally it can be used overtop of your foundation for a more intense glow. It’s formulated with pearl-light technology that offers optimal colour purity and brightness for high intensity results and a pearlescent finish.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator comes in a squeeze tube with an incredibly lightweight and creamy texture. It applies smoothing and evenly to the skin and blends in like a dream. When mixing with a foundation, it helps to provide a dewy, sheer finish, but can also be used to highlight elevated points of the face by simply using your finger and blending out. No matter how you apply it, it gives an instant glow that “claims” to be free of sparkle and glitter. It does seem to wear fairly decent, but as the day goes on, and it starts to fade, you’re left with pretty shimmery glitter on the cheekbones or wherever you applied it.
Although these L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminators claim to be free of sparkle and glitter, both shades I have are intensely shimmery, frosty and metallic. I’m not too sure how these would act as a primer, as they’re pretty dewy and shimmery? If you add the tiniest amount into your foundation, it will provide a radiant, shimmery glow, but be careful not to go overboard, a little really does go a long way. I think the best way to apply and use these are overtop of your foundation to provide an illuminating effect on the cheekbones, the same way you would apply Benefit High Beam or Sun Beam. It comes in Golden, Roes and Ice, retails for $16.99 and is available mid-July.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Golden is a golden bronze complexion highlighter that helps to give a somewhat natural, sunkissed radiance on the cheekbones, depending on how much you apply.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Ice is a pinky luminescent complexion enhancer that helps to create a radiant dewy, slightly pinky shimmery, soft natural afterglow.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator is a multi-tonal powder that acts as both a blush, highlighter and illuminating powder in one. It helps to sculpt the cheekbones and illuminate shadows on the face. It too is formulated with pearl-light technology that offers optimal colour purity and brightness for high intensity results and a pearlescent finish.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator comes in a beautiful rose gold compact with see-through lid, so you’re able to see the shade within. If you open up the bottom it reveals a small flat brush for easy application and a small mirror for touch-ups on the go. It features 4 complimentary highlighting shades to help capture and diffuse light to give the appearance of brighter looking skin. It has an incredibly soft texture, but does kick up a bit of fallout once applying. It’s extremely pigmented for such a light colour, but can get a bit chalky if you apply too much.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator is best used to help highlight the cheekbones and brighten your overall complexion. I can’t really imagine using this as a blush shade as it’s pretty shimmery and pearlescent. It does help to give a somewhat natural sheen to the skin, if you apply with a light hand, but be careful as it can settle into fine lines and wrinkles. It lasts throughout the day without fading and it distributes evenly onto the skin for fairly decent colour payoff in a single swipe of the brush. It comes in 2 shades, Golden and Rose, retails for $16.99 each and is available mid-July.
L’Oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator in Rose features a cream, pink, gold and peach with a ton of shimmer for a healthy, fairly intense glow.
