Mad for Plaid

Nothing screams autumn quite like a tartan or checked print. Who else is mad for plaid? It’s impossible to walk into a store without seeing at least a few plaid pieces. It’s cozy, cool and goes well with other seasonal staples you currently have in your closet. Although the classic plaid shirt is probably the main article of clothing we’ve gotten used to, there are plenty of other ways to wear this pattern and to incorporate into your fall wardrobe.

If you’re anything like me, you find it incredibly hard to go from living in skirts, shorts and dresses in the summer, to covering up your legs again for the cooler temperatures, but fear not, a cool plaid printed dress is still acceptable in fall. It’s the perfect piece to add into your ever growing wardrobe and can instantly up-date any look to an effortlessly chic look. This Joe Fresh red plaid dress has to be my fave, and it just so happens to come in a stunning electric blue shade as well.

There’s no limitation on how you can style this dress. Mix and match it with other statement patterns in your wardrobe for a bold statement and to help create your own unique look or pair it with classic shades of black, brown, tan or grey for a more chic, sophisticated and refined look. Opting for a classic plaid dress is one way to instantly dress up a fall pattern and make it your own. You can pair it with a cool pair of heels for the office or dress it down with booties or over-the-knee boots for a more relaxed weekend look. You can also pair a chunky, over-size cable-knit sweater to give the illusion of it being a skirt or tie a light jacket around your waist to give it a trendier, more “blogger” feel.
