Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipstick
Matte lipsticks were Queen in 2016 and right into 2017, but there’s a new face in town. This season it’s all about the gloss. It’s time for flat finishes to step aside, and let nourished, hydrated and shiny to take over. Too Faced is always ahead of the trends and this season the brand has released an exclusive technology that keeps the high-shine of a gloss, but with the wonderful formula of a liquid lipstick. In a honey-like texture, their new latex lippie coats lips in a burst of intense, buildable lacquered colour that lasts for hours on end.
Too Faced Melted Matte Lipsticks are some of my favourite liquid lipsticks and the ones I reach for on the daily. The formula glides on like butter, sets and dries to a completely opaque and pigmented matte finish and lasts throughout the day without fading or creasing. You can imagine my excitement when I heard about the launch of Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipstick. A high-shine lipstick in the same liquified formula that provides a lacquer-like vibrant and juicy shine. It features the same sleek, triangular clear packaging (allowing you to see the shade within), as the OG melted mattes, but with a high-shine finish.
Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipstick comes with an easy to use doe-foot applicator that comfortably coats your entire lips in a single swipe or two. It has a slightly thin, almost watery texture that glides onto the lips like a dream. You’ll want to apply a thin coat to ensure it doesn’t slip and slide around during the day. Its fully saturated, high-impact pigments provide a bold burst of intense, vivid colour that’s truly opaque in a single layer. Although a tad sticky, it helps with longevity. Unlike traditional glosses, you can expect to get a solid 5+ hours worth of wear time before slowing starting to fade.
Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks are a perfect hybrid between a pigmented lipstick and an ultra glossy gloss. I’ve heard some not-so positive reviews about these, whether it being too sticky or too goopy, but I think this can all be solved with the correct application process. The key to applying these liquid lipsticks is thin, even layers. The unique formula actually applies better with less product. In a single swipe you can get full, intense colour payoff, so there’s no need to keep reapplying more coats. By working with less product, you won’t have to worry about the formula becoming streaky, patchy or goopy.
Unlike traditionals, that adhere to your lips for all-day staying power, these Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks are more like a gloss, so don’t think they’re transfer-proof. If you do plan on eating and drinking, get ready to reapply. Although not necessarily moisturizing, these aren’t drying in the slightest way. Each shade is incredibly comfortable to wear, minus a tad stickiness, and feel quite nice on the lips. It does have an extremely sweet, almost Hawaiian Punch scent and taste to it, so if you’re sensitive to smell, this might be a concern for you. It retails for $25 in 14 bold shades along with a clear. Rumor has it, the brand is also releasing an iridescent shimmer called Unicorn Tears that I can’t wait to get my hands on.
