SkinTx Jessner Chemical Peel

SkinTx Jessner Chemical Peel

You may remember my first review on the SkinTx Jessner Chemical Peel, if not, I highly recommend you check it out, as I go into detail about my skin concerns, how chemical peels can benefit your skin, and my first experience with these peels. Today I’m back with an update full of more info about my current treatments from the beautiful Kristen at Mooi Medical Aesthetics & Spa in London, Ontario.

I’ve been seeing Kristen for over a year now and my skin is almost perfect. Not only have I been fighting constant breakouts for the past few years, I’ve also been battling hyperpigmentation, both of which chemical peels can help with. That being said, not all peels are created equal, I’ve had some done in the past where it almost burnt my face off. It left my skin incredibly red, raw and sore for weeks. Although it’s extremely important to go to a trusted spa specialist, like Kristen, it also depends on the peel itself. The SkinTx Jessner Chemical Peel completely neutralizes after 3 short minutes, without having to wash it off, which means there’s no fear of leaving it on too long and having it burn your face. Depending on how your skin reacts to the first treatment, you can receive up to 3 sessions at a time (spaced out 5 minutes apart). It’s quick, easy and almost completely pain free. The entire process takes under 30 minutes.

My first review was after just two short treatments which I received in the summer, looking back, probably not the ideal time to get a chemical peel, as your skin is more sensitive to the sun. That being said, I saw huge results and was excited to go back. Then, due to my recent trips, Antigua in September and Jamaica in October, I was forced to take a few months off. Again, not ideal as it’s recommended you get at least 4 treatments, back to back (spaced 4 weeks apart) to see full results. After that you can just maintain your results with a few treatments a year, as you see fit.

So, I’m back at it, starting my treatments over again, and this time I’m not going to miss a month. I just finished my third treatment, I went in both Nov, Dec and Jan and am currently in the middle of peeling as we speak. It’s going so much better this time around, not as much peeling, cause my skin is getting healthier and not as many hyperpigmentation popping up, as my skin is not exposed to as much sunlight in the winter as it is in the summer. It’s also done wonders on my breakouts, due to the high amount of salicylic acid. It’s funny, cause immediately after each peel, the blemishes I currently have are instantly cleared up within a few short days. I continue to have completely clear skin for the following 3 weeks, but as it starts to creep up on the 4 week mark, and I get closer to my next peel, I start to slowly see new blemishes appear. Just goes to show that the peels really do help with breakouts and acne.

It’s so hard to capture in a photo, but my skin in November was extremely blotchy, dull, uneven, quite dark and with a ton of hyperpigmentation. As of today, I have a radiant glow that’s brighter and overall healthier looking. It’s helped with my skin texture and tone, we’re talking baby soft, smooth skin, and my dark spots are visibly diminished, the majority of them are completely gone. And let’s not forget I only get a few blemishes on rare occasions.

Although the success of my peels are astonishing, I think it has to do with 2 new products I’ve introduced into my current skincare routine. These 2 products go hand in hand with the SkinTx Jessner Chemical Peels, speeding up the result process. Both Skin TX Active 4 and SkinTx Clarite 4 are a medical grade skin lightening, correcting and blending cream that’s formulated with a high amount of hydroquinone (4%), antioxidants and lactic acid to help gradually lighten hyperpigmentation, even skin texture and improve the appearance of the skin.

I’m not going to lie, both Skin TX Active 4 and SkinTx Clarite 4 smell incredibly awful, can’t quite put my finger on what it smells like, but it’s terrible. For the first few minutes it will almost make you gag, but once absorbed into the skin, it’s completely scent free. Also, the more you use it, the more you will get used to it. Since I apply both products under my daily and nightly moisturizer, the cream I apply overtop helps mask the smell, even though my moisturizer is scent free. Both are incredibly lightweight, fast absorbing and blend into the skin easily. One has a slightly watery, creamy consistency, whereas the other one has more of a gel texture. I apply a thin layer of both, both morning and night after I fully cleanse my skin, and right before my moisturizer.

I’ve been using both products for the past 5 weeks, and although it’s hard to say if it’s the chemical peel alone that’s helped improve the appearance of my skin, or if it’s the use of these 2 new products on their own, or if it’s the combination of both the creams and the treatments, but my skin has never looked better. I have no words to describe how happy I am with my skin lately. I’ll be sticking with my current skincare routine, Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser, Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant, Skin TX Active 4, SkinTx Clarite 4 and then Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask for the next little while, cause it really is doing miracles on my skin.

I’ll be going to see Kristen next month for my 4th SkinTx Jessner Chemical Peel in a row, so if you want an up-dated blog post, just let me know.
