Valentine’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Valentine’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels

A colourful, delicious and easy treat for your friends and family this Valentine’s Day with these Valentine’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels. There’s something about a sweet and salty treat that I can’t get enough of, but some of those specialty bakers want like $3+ a pretzel, which I think is just crazy. All you need to make them at home is pretzels, chocolate, sprinkles, wax paper and a few mixing bowls. I want to first start off by saying, I’m not meant to be in the kitchen, my husband does all the cooking, so these didn’t turn out the way I envisioned them to be. I used the wrong chocolate, who knew you couldn’t melt Hersey’s Chipits? They melt, but within seconds, harden again, so I wasn’t able to dip the pretzels into the chocolate the way I wanted to.

To start, have your pretzels open and ready to go (buy extra bags, who knew you only get 51 full size pretzels in a bag, all the rest were broken) and have your sprinkles in little bowls for easy dipping.

Start by melting your chocolate either in the microwave on medium heat or over the stove. You can then add a little red food colouring to turn your chocolate different shades of pink and red. Dip your pretzel into the chocolate (or in my case I had to hand spoon it onto each one) cause it was too thick to dip.

Then dip your chocolate covered pretzel into your sprinkles or set it down on some wax paper and sprinkle the sprinkles onto the pretzel (whatever is easiest for you). Place the pretzels on wax paper and place in the fridge for about 10 to 15 minutes for the chocolate to harden and you’re all done.

I then placed some pink shredded paper at the bottom of each gift bag, placed a few pretzels inside each bag and I had the perfect Valentine’s Day treat for my girlfriends. I spent $11 on chocolate, $3 on the pretzels, $5 on sprinkles (with a $3 off coupon) and $7 on gift bags and shredded paper for a total of $26 which made enough for 10 friends, a pretty cheap, yet yummy gift idea if you ask me?
